Official /r/NBA Power Rankings #12 (04.01.2019) - Playoff Mode Edition

27/30 rankers reporting this week. /NBA's Power Rankings are published every two weeks which is a bit different from most rankings. Other than that we rank the teams the same way as our competition. If write ups are left blank the team rep decided not to submit. We encourage any user to fill in the blanks in the comment section. We are still looking for a Hornets ranker so apply here if interested!
# Team Δ Record Comment
1 Bucks -- 57-20 Call me crazy, but I've started to believe that we may have a chance to win the title this season. We have an all-time great netrtg, stars who have gotten lots of rest (Giannis leads the team in minutes, but is only 39th in the league in minutes played), and arguably the best player in the league. All we need is to get healthy and for the Warriors to continue to not quite gel perfectly, and I'd say we have a punchers chance against them.
2 Warriors -- 52-24 Warriors seem to be flipping the switch when they feel like it. Bogut looks decent against typical Cs but is taking away Looney's minutes who provides a bit more as a rim runner. With seeding implications, tomorrow's game against the Nuggets will be a good guage to see what this team will look like in a couple weeks.
3 Raptors +1 54-23 Raptors have been strong over the recent two weeks, with Pascal only doing more to cement himself as the leading MIP candidate.
4 Rockets -- 49-28 Ever since the All-Star Break, this team has been something else. Every single player seems to have stepped up over the past few games, but James Harden's 61 point performance against the Spurs quashed any doubt that his season is slowing down. Nevertheless, disappointing losses to the Bucks and the Warriors show that the Rockets still need to rise an extra level to achieve the ultimate goal.
5 Nuggets -- 51-25 The Nuggets have entered the final month of the season with the second seed still under their control. A six game win streak following the Warriors loss helped stave off the flaming hot Rockets from stealing the second seed, however inconsistent guard play and frustrating officiating have led to some questionable losses. With a brutal 6 game stretch ahead of them to finish the season (@GS, vs SAS, vs POR, @POR, @UTA, vs MIN) the Nuggets need everyone firing on all cylinders to maintain their playoff seed and enter the playoffs on a high note.
6 76ers -- 49-27 Completely didn't show up to two games against lesser competition and lost. Won the rest. The first round of the playoffs may be more of a challenge than expected if this trend continues.
7 Jazz +5 46-30 Well, we're nearing the end of the regular season, and the Jazz have just a few more games to play before the playoffs arrive. The most recent ten games Utah has cruised to a 9-1 record, almost getting that perfect 10-0 in Atlanta. In these past ten games, Rudy Gobert has averaged: 18 points, 14 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks while shooting 77% from the field with an average of +11 +/- a game. Stifle Tower forever. Utah continues to fine-tune their rotations and sets in preparation for the postseason, with six games left they have control of their own destiny for 5th seed or lower, while 4th seed would be a nice homecourt advantage in the first round.
8 Trail Blazers -1 48-28 The Blazers are winners of 6 of their last 7, but all is not well in Rip City. A gruesome injury to Jusuf Nurkic an an injury with uncertain prognosis to CJ McCollum have left the team very depleted. They're depth has helped them stay afloat, but you have to think the injury bug has all but ended Portland's hopes for a deep post-season run. Then again, it's never a good idea to count out a Damian Lillard led team. Fingers crossed.
9 Clippers +4 47-31 The trade deadline was amazing for the Clippers, and they’ve risen 3 seeds since then, but remain in a tight race for their eventual playoff seeding. Their best bet is to play Portland, but Denver is likely a better option between the last three. I definitely think LAC can make the 4th seed, and hopefully Portland ends up 5.
10 Spurs -1 44-33 The Spurs are back in the playoffs! 50 wins is officially off the table after last night’s loss to the Kings, but the Spurs are in the playoffs for the 22nd straight season. In terms of potential playoff opponents, I’d prefer for the Spurs to play the Nuggets, Rockets or Warriors in that order; if we can somehow sneak into the 5 seed, then Portland would rank in ahead of Houston. As of now, we don’t look like much more than a first-round exit, but with some luck and a well-timed hot streak, I could see the team push for the WCF as a best case scenario. Happy last two weeks of the season!
11 Celtics -3 45-32 The Celtics are... Confusing. Some nights they look like they're purposely tanking and playing the worst possible basketball imaginable, and other nights they're playing and grooving like everyone thought they would back in the offseason. Since our last rankings the Celtics have gone 2-5 with their 2 wins coming over the Pacers and Cavs, and their losses to to the Nuggets, 76ers, Hornets, Spurs, and Nets. With a 1st round matchup against the Pacers seeming inevitable, at the very least they can feel good about beating them during this stretch. Celtics have 5 games left in the season, including another matchup against the Pacers, that may very well decide who gets the 4th/5th seed and homecourt advantage in their 1st round against each other.
12 Pacers -1 45-32 Indianan's month from hell is finally over, and the Pacers left March reeling. Despite clinching a top 5 playoff seed, Indiana has gone 7-12 since the All-Star break, and the poor offensive stretches, questionable rotations, and maddening defensive lapses continue. The Pacers suffered a crushing last-second loss to the Celtics which has for the moment kicked them out of a home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs, but an important home game against the C's on Friday might be the ultimate deciding factor in the final standings.
13 Thunder -3 44-33 There's no serious analysis I can write in this space that won't make me vomit while trying to type it, so I'll just write a rant instead: OKC since the All Star Break has been downright pathetic. In just a month, this team has gone from Golden State's top challenger in the West to the fans petitioning to give the Kings our playoff berth. The only thing the Thunder have in common with the Warriors right now is a laughable lack of energy, urgency, or focus on the court.
14 Pistons -- 39-37 Detroit has recovered from a tough road trip with a huge win over Orlando and then beating Portland. Andre Drummond has been fully unleashed and this time when it clicks the team around him hasn't crumbled like last year. The question now is getting Blake right, who has been off since the break.
15 Nets -- 39-38 The Nets are in a close fight for the final playoff spots in the East. Unfortunately, they also face the hardest remaining schedule in the league. However, some of the teams are already locked into the playoffs and there may be some resting that could prove beneficial to the Nets. The Celtics sat out Kyrie and Horford which led to a comfortable win for the Nets and kept them afloat in this playoff madness.
16 Magic +2 38-39 It all comes down to these last set of games. 5 teams vying for 3 spots in the playoffs, who makes it and who doesn't? At this point, it's really up for grabs. The Magic have the easiest remaining strength of schedule between the five, which bodes well. The bench has been instrumental as of late, with MCW leading that group and many fans hoping the Magic keep him around, regardless if they make the playoffs. Maybe we'll get lucky with some load management?
17 Heat -- 38-38 The Heat have done a good job of getting necessary wins to help achieve the mission of not getting knocked out of the playoff race. However, the position is not secured yet. 5/6 of our final 6 games are against teams in the playoffs already. Maybe we'll get lucky and the higher seeds will rest their stars. Shout out to Brooklyn for their wonderful young core which scares me whenever we play them. Boston is another difficult match up but I have faith that we can get the job done.
18 Kings -2 38-39 The Kings have done well to hold on to the number one seed in the West throughout the entirety of the NBA season so far, with no teams coming within 12 games of the number one seed since early January. The only team in the West that has not forfeited the season to the inevitable champions is the feisty Pelicans. The real question is which East team can challenge this absolute juggernaut, especially after Giannis resigned his position with the Bucks and opened a hole-in-the-wall Greek restaurant in a thriving Milwaukee strip mall.
19 Hornets +1 35-41
20 TWolves -1 34-42 Even in a lost season the Wolves are finding ways to win with guys off the bench. Against the Warriors the Wolves got great production form Marat Kogut late in the game. He was able to stop Durant from scoring late in OT and the Wolves were able to use that to rally for the win.
21 Lakers +1 35-42 The only thing longer than our injury list is the amount of fans in disbelief that we're winning games as the South Bay Lakers. Meanwhile KCP is playing for the contract of his life.
22 Wizards -1 32-46 The tank is officially on! Losses to the Bulls, Heat, Jazz (twice) and Lakers officially eliminated the Wizards from the playoffs for the first time in three seasons, and just like their last unsuccessful season (2015-16), it is time to clean house. This is certainly the last season for Ernie, and he will take his win-now trades of first round picks for one-year rentals and overpaid veterans with him, never to be seen again in the NBA. Scott Brooks is also likely to be shown the door, as are some of the old Ernie-era players (Howard, Ariza, Green). Whoever takes the Washington job will inherit a mess of bad contracts, lack of draft capital, and a star PG who needs to be kept away from stairs at all costs. It will be interesting to see where the team goes from here.
23 Hawks +2 28-49 For better or worse, the Hawks remain an always fun and sometimes good team as the season winds down. At a time where all the teams around us in the standings are resting players or rolling out tank lineups, the Hawks are popping off 3 game win streaks against good teams. As it stands right now, the Mavericks have a 37.2% chance of keeping the draft pick they sent us in the Doncic trade, which would be pretty less than ideal IMO. The Hawks currently have a 2.5 game "lead" on the Mavs for the 5th slot in the lottery and that remains really the only thing of consequence for the Hawks during the final 5 games of the season.
24 Grizzlies -1 31-46
25 Pelicans -1 32-46
26 Mavericks -- 30-46 The cloud over Dallas now is about Porzingis' rape accusations. It's a worrisome time for Mavs fans. However, on court, the simultaneous highlight and lowlight for the Mavs was beating OKC without Luka on the first game of a back to back. The Mavs are highly competitive in the tank race, and that's the main focus going forward. The next Dirk achievement to watch is 10,000 rebounds. Dirk currently sits at 9984 entering Monday's game vs Philly.
27 Bulls +1 21-56 End of the season means the Bulls aren't worth watching. We have guys getting 30+ minutes whose names I still forget because they literally don't matter to the team. Lauri is done, so we shouldn't be surprised if the other NBA-level players are shut down soon too. We're almost locked in to the 4th pick pre-lottery, but here's hoping we can lose our way into those top-3 odds.
28 Cavaliers +1 19-58 Colin Sexton looks like he's panning out, and Duke's season ended before ours so I'd call this a win
29 Suns -2 17-60 Devin Booker is averaging 52/6/6 on 62/48/91 shooting over his last 3 games... but the Suns have managed to lose all of them due a massive amount of injuries. Warren, Oubre, Ayton, Holmes, Johnson, and Jackson have all missed/will continue to miss time going forward. If you're interested in a watching a 22-year old literally carry a group of G-Leaguers on his back while trying to win an NBA game then tune into the Devin Booker show tonight vs the Cavs.
30 Knicks -- 14-62 Knicks go #1 this week with the All-Hypothetical starting 5 of KD, Kyrie, Zion, Mitch and Frank. If you disagree you are worse than the guy who robbed my local bodega.

CreateYoureRealitys NBA Breakdown and Picks

Hi everyone! I recently posted a video about my life with professional poker and my recent experience betting the NFL season. Over the past few weeks I have taken a crack at NBA as well and posting in the daily nba thread. I like what ive seen over here so I thought I would post. Please enjoy my picks and if you would like to follow my poker ride too, check out my post history! Good luck to all!

Today is a huge slate and its the biggest amount of bets I have placed in a single NBA day. Lets jump right in!

HOU/CHA: Hou off beating GS in GS w/o Harden. CHA off a tough loss to BK. Both off rest. My model has this closer to a PK. CP has put up 3 20+ pt games and CHA is really vunerable to PGs assists. Ill be looking at CP AST. If it is 7.5 I will hammer the over, 8.5 med bet, 9.5 small bet. 10.5 no bet.

WAS/BK: WAS has lost 3 in a row giving up 120+. BK off back to back wins. Both off rest. Both teams really would love to have this win considering the playoff implications it could have. WAS is pretty vulnerable to rebounding vs. centers. Its a high number but it is an attainable one, I like Jarrett Allen 9.5 RBDs OVER. Might also take a look at De'Angelo Russel 8.5 AST (+110) OVER and Bobby Portis 8.5 RBDs OVER.

GS/MIA: GS off a win, MIA off a loss. Im not really sure where to put either team right now. GS is a good team but has been struggling with these larger spreads. MIA is pretty inconsistent right now deciding if its playoffs or next season. As per my trend, I am loving Whiteside. His numbers are a bit high, 12.5 PTS and 11.5 RBDs, but I would look at both. **random thought... if MIA makes a push for the playoffs, maybe they win this game? They just lost to GS by 2 in GS a few games ago, whos to say they cant win at home? **Cousins out makes whiteside all the more juicy*\* I dont have it but if you have odds for Klay T 3 pointers, i would look over. Cousins out, i think more shots all around, he will take a good amount of 3s.

MIN/ATL: Min off a good win against a good club. Alt up and down with mostly down but has looked pretty promising lately. ATL center John Collins has been getting the minutes and showing that he wants to be a big piece in the rebuild. MIN has been susceptible to centers in both scoring and rebounding. His numbers are a little high but this looks like a good matchup. Also this game looks ripe for a close high scoring affair pushing the total. Looking at most scorers and the over.

POBOS: Portland off a win, and rest. BOS playing a back to back off a loss. My model has this closer to Bos -6. Is the possible adjustment because too many sharps would hammer Portland plus that many? Nurkic had a great game against BOS last time around and is in a good rhythm. I would look to him to do some work inside.

CHI/MEM: Both looking decent lately and played Monday. Bulls lost, but it was to the Bucks and MEM got an upset over LAL. Jonas Valanciunas has been rocking it recently and I look for him to continue. I like his pts and RBD potential while MEM claims another victory.

IND/DAL: The model has this slightly in DAL favor. I am going to say that Vegas is correcting for IND recent play. Probably avoid the spread but really liking Dwight Powell 7.5 RBDs OVER. He has only reached this in 4 of his last 10 but wih Sabonis D/O for INDY I think both he and Turner will get more board opportunities.

DET/SA: My model has SA closer to 6 pt favorites. I am going to assume the correction is to balance out the money going on the streaking DET. Its close but because of the plus odds, I like Reggie Jackson 5.5 AST (+115) Over and 15.5 PTS OVER

LAC/UTH: Interesting spread IMO. I have it closer to 6. Both teams are decent lately with the Jazz having more consistent success and their recent losses coming to top tier teams. LA is on a back to back and UTH has had rest. I think the Vegas adjustment it to encourage LA bets so I will look towards the UTAH side. Love me some Goberttonight. His PTS are 16.5 and his RBDs 15.5.

MIL/SAC: My model has this one closer to SAC +3. Id say the adjustment is due to too much money would be on MIL at that price. I like some Bledsoe 4.5 AST OVER. Also, my books dont have it yet but if it comes out, LOVE some action on Bagelys rebounds espically if it is 10.5 or lower. Looking at it later i also like Cauley-Stein 9.5 PTS OVER.

NO/LAL: Both teams off a loss and a day of rest. My model has this much closer at LA -2. The adjustment is probably to compensate for the sharp money on LA. The Lakers NEED a win to stabilize and make a playoff push. LeBron in NEEEEED it spots usually shows up. He doesnt have the best matchup, but he does have the hot hand. I like Brandon Ingram 20.5 PTS OVER

My picks summarized:
Last Post Recap: Singles(3-2 ,+0U ) Parlay(0-1, -5U) Teaser(0-1, -2U) BBDLS (0Bets)
Recap: Pretty close to a 3rd straight win day. Props did ok. I wish I put more bets in, I talked about magic 1st qtr and Vucivec and I bet neither, haha. Celtics shit the bed so Horford cost us a 4U swing. OKC looked good... except the final 45 seconds of the first half. Small slate, small summary.

Todays Singles(Overall Total: 44-35, +15.5U)

Todays Teaser [1-6, -12.2U] (Teasers are a fun experiment, I dont think they are profitable in the nba)
Basic Parlay(4-13, -18.6U) and BIG BOY DADDY LONG SHOT PARLAY (0-9, -7.2U)

Nuggets vs Mavericks game preview [OC]

30% … according to fivethirtyeight.com’s playoff predictions the Denver Nuggets have a 30% chance of making the playoffs. If you had a thousand dollars that you had to bet on the NBA this season, what would you bet on? In this metaphorical scenario you could do the not-so-fun (unless you’re a Warriors fan) but probably smart thing and bet on Golden State to win the title. You could take a keener interest in the MVP race and pick any of the OKC big three alumni or the seemingly ageless Lebron to win the coveted award. Or you could make a (possibly ill-advised) bet on the Denver Nuggets making the playoffs. Now in this hypothetical scenario I’m not sure how much fake money I would wager on the Nuggets making the playoffs but I can tell you it would be a significant portion. Now my reason for making this pretend wager is an obvious and simple one. If you’re a fan of any team it’s fun to watch your team win games (I know I’m writing about some groundbreaking stuff here folks haha). Now the more informed modern NBA fan probably knows the benefits that tanking can provide but after seeing the anguish that Philly fans had to suffer through these past few year it’s easy to see the drawbacks of the tanking process. It is for this reason that I as a Nuggets fan am still harboring some (perhaps irrational) hope about the Nuggets advancing to the postseason. That being said having played 27 games this season the Denver Nuggets are approximately a third of the way through their NBA schedule and if Denver suffers a few more dispiriting losses then perhaps the team and fans will have to resign themselves to another season without a chance at the playoffs. However until that moment arrives I am allowing myself to have a modicum of hope, 30% to be exact.
The main factor in my 30% of hope is the Denver Nuggets new starting lineup. After numerous games where the Denver Nuggets practically never had a lead at the end of the first quarter Coach Malone finally overhauled the Nuggets starting lineup. The past two games the Denver Nuggets starting unit consisted of Emmanuel Mudiay, Gary Harris (thankfully back from injury), Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler and Nikola Jokic. Now many Nuggets fans have lambasted Coach Malone for not rejiggering the starting lineup sooner. In Coach Malone’s defense his choices were somewhat justifiable. Starting Jusuf Nurkic over Jokic hypothetically made sense because on paper Nurkic had more defensive upside than Jokic and both added value offensively however on the court the offense plays loads better with Jokic on the floor. Nurkic has value as a bully in the post but Jokic not only brings a plethora of skills on the block he can also stretch the floor and flummox defenses with his already impressive passing ability. Given Jokic’s performance these past two games I think it’s (hopefully) safe to say he will be the starting 5 for the near (and optimistically far) future.
The myriad of different starters at the 4 that Malone has tried so far this season is also defendable. Malone began the year attempting to start a Jokic and Nurkic frontcourt a concept that many fans were excited to see because of the possibilities that that frontcourt could provide. However after that lineup failed to perform up to standards (whether the pairing of Jokic and Nurkic is viable in today’s NBA is open to debate however with the plethora of capable 4’s on the Nuggets it is perhaps unrealistic with the Nuggets current roster, while I might like the idea of a Jokic and Nurkic lineup I must admit I prefer lineups with Jokic [or Nurkic] at the 5 coupled with either a more traditional or a stretch 4) Coach Malone tried starting either Kenneth Faried, Darrell Arthur or the promising rookie Juancho Hernangomez. Coach Malone’s problem with juggling who should get minutes at the 4 is understandable because the reality is that all three guys can contribute substantial minutes at power forward. If one combines this with the fact that listed small forwards Danilo Gallinari and Wilson Chandler also merit some playing time at the 4 spot one can see how unenviable an equation this is for Coach Malone to solve. These past two games Malone has decided to start Chandler and Gallinari at the two forward positions and it seems to be working out well in an admittedly small sample size. But the idea makes sense, have two forwards that can pass, shoot and defend reasonably well at either forward position then combine those abilities with Jokic’s playmaking at the 5 and this will lead (hopefully) to an appealing result for the team and Nuggets fans. Coach Malone still has to tackle who will get the remaining minutes between Juancho, Faried and Arthur but if the team isn’t down by 10+ at the end of every first quarter that problem is a little bit easier to solve.
With the return of Gary Harris the answer to the question of who the staring 2 should be (as of right now) is clear. If he’s healthy it’s Gary Harris. While in the future the young sharp-shooter Jamal Murray will probably contend for a starting spot Gary Harris is the shooting guard of the now. Fans often hear about how valuable 3 & D players are nowadays and Gary Harris fits that description well. Not only will G Harris guard the opponents best perimeter player and spot up from three but he can also cut extremely well and has a respectable offensive game. Now ever since the Denver Nuggets drafted Jamal Murray I have been excited about the possibilities that the 3-guard rotation of Emmanuel Mudiay, Gary Harris and Jamal Murray could provide. So far in his career Mudiay has shown that he plays better with Gary Harris on the floor and hopefully that trend can continue with both players starting. Mudiay’s developing passing skills combined with Gary Harris’ ability to spot from 3 should equal a promising backcourt. Then when either Harris or Mudiay needs a breather Coach Malone should be able to play Jamal Murray as either a point guard or shooting guard. While G Harris sits Murray’s shooting at SG should couple well with Mudiay’s ability to pass and drive into the paint and Emmanuel will guard the better of the opponent’s backcourt players. Conversely while Mudiay rests Jamal Murray will be able to demonstrate his burgeoning playmaking abilities at the point with Gary Harris also defending the more skilled backcourt opponent. Now this is only my opinion on how I hope Coach Malone decides to allocate the majority of backcourt minutes in the future but I feel that this idea could be achievable. As of right now Malone has to juggle Mudiay, G Harris and Murray’s playing time while also providing minutes for guards Will Barton, Jameer Nelson and rookie Malik Beasley.
I admit that while Jameer Nelson is a capable backup PG I personally would rather see Mudiay and Murray soak up most of the minutes at the 1 however Jameer Nelson does provide a strong veteran presence in the locker room and he is currently leading the team in assits-per-game. So I’m not hating on Jameer as I believe he adds value to the team but at 34 years old I’m not certain how much he factors into the future of the Nuggets. Perhaps an ideal scenario is one where Nelson continues in his role of backup PG and if Mudiay and Murray are playing well enough to garner the majority of minutes at the 1 spot Nelson’s role will taper into more of a player-coach a la Mike Miller (side note how awesome is to be Mike Miller right now getting paid 3.5 million a year to have courtside seats to every Nuggets games, I’m not mad at the contract either since the Nuggets are still way under the Salary Cap Floor and it seems like Miller is thriving in his role as mentor to the youngins). Mudiay and Murray garnering the majority of minutes at the 1 is probably a best case scenario for the Nuggets because that means that the team’s young prospects are developing. However with the way Mudiay has been playing so far this season and with Malone deciding to end games with Jameer at the point this (definitely optimistic) idea is most likely unachievable this season so fans can expect to see Nelson fulfilling his role as backup point guard, mentor and friend to the younger players while also finishing a decent amount of games
Will Barton also provides and interesting conundrum for Coach Malone. While Barton undeniably has the capacity to put the ball in the bucket he seems to need to hold the rock a decent amount of time to be effective. Last season with a roster decimated by injury Barton provided an invaluable scoring spark off the bench in fact if one watches the NBA’s 2015-16 season highlights of the Nuggets they’re dominated by Will the Thrill https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4dk9Iudp1c . However this year with a deeper and (somewhat) healthier roster Will Barton’s iso-ball skills become less valuable. If Barton is able to shape his game accordingly he will no doubt be an important piece of a deep roster.
Tonight the Denver Nuggets have a chance to redeem a disheartening loss against the 7-20 Dallas Mavericks. And with the prospect of playing at the Clippers tomorrow followed by a home game versus the Hawks Friday and another Clippers matchup Monday at the Staples Center the Denver Nuggets could really use a W tonight. With the newfangled starting lineup the Nuggets should have a decent shot at snagging a W.
30% odds of making the playoffs aren’t great or even good. But if you’re a Nuggets fan after the past few seasons then poor odds of being good have not dissuaded you. I’m (probably foolishly) feeling hopeful about this team or at least 30% hopeful. And looking ahead to the (hopefully) bright Nuggets future over the next couple seasons, then, for the 2016-17 season 30% is good enough for me.

NBA Playoffs Sports Betting Odds And Picks: Brooklyn Nets Vs. Miami Heat Game 5

Can The Heat End The Series at Home Tonight Against The Nets? Our Sports Rumble Team Has an in Dept Analysis of the Sports Betting Odds and Give Our Picks.
If Monday was any indication of what is to come from LeBron James in these playoffs, then watch out. King James tied his personal. Add the fact that there are rumors swirling of Paul Pierce punching LeBron James in the face following an altercation on the way back to the locker rooms: This game is bound to get heated up. Lebron was able to tie his career best on Monday when he went 16-24 for 49 points to take a 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference Semi Finals. Following the game, he gave credit to his team for the win as it was Chris Bosh who nailed the open three to put them ahead. The Miami Heat will look to put an end to this series tonight when they go back home to the American Airlines arena. Even though the aging Brooklyn Nets had won all four games during the season, Miami looks like the better team in the post-season. Will Brooklyn come out strong with their backs against the wall? We will find out tonight. Brooklyn Nets at Miami Heat When: 7:00 PM ET, Wednesday, May 14, 2014 Where: American Airlines Arena, Miami, Florida TV: TNT Opening NBA Odds: Miami -7 NBA Basketball Betting Odds from: Bovada Sportsbook ABOUT THE NETS: Since the start of the series, Brooklyn has shown signs of old age. The fact they went seven games with a young Toronto Raptors team does not make it any better. This can be seen during all the games played in this series: the game is close at halftime and then Miami just blows them away in the second half. In addition, the highest point scored by any of the Nets was in game 2 when Teletovic had 20. From all the stars that Brooklyn has signed, Joe Jonson has had the most points in one game this series with 19 point!! Yes, you read that correctly. Deron Williams has been a non factor, shooting 8-34 over the past three games. This is likely because of his sore ankle. Even though everything is stacked against them, Brooklyn is a team that plays well against Miami so do not count them out of this one too fast.
ABOUT THE HEAT: The Heat have been on fire since the start of the NBA Playoffs and the odds are that they will be heading to another birth at the finals judging from their performance. On Monday, James could have joined an exclusive list of player to have 50 points in a playoff game if it wasn’t for his last second missed free throw with 1 second left. After the game, you can tell that sort of bothered him when he was being interviewed. James’s supporting cast are also playing good basketball, 102.5 points per game as a team.
TRENDS:
Conclusion: There have been eight teams in the NBA that have come back from a 3-1 series during the NBA Playoffs, Doing it against the former champs makes it even more difficult. Nevertheless I believe this is going to be a close one where the experienced Nets will go point for point with the Heat. I still feel like Miami will come out the victor but I will take the points because it is going to come down to the last minute. Sports Rumble Sports Betting Pick: Brooklyn Nets +7
