Erase mac Bitcoin-QT wallet but keep the downloaded blockchain

Hey everyone, my wallet recently got messed up importing a bad key or two. I was able to recover the money through a tedious process. I would like to reset it, without deleting the whole thing and without losing the blockchain I've spent so many days and hours downloading. Any suggestions?

Reddcoin (RDD) 02/20 Progress Report - Core Wallet v3.1 Evolution & PoSV v2 - Commits & More Commits to v3.1! (Bitcoin Core 0.10, MacOS Catalina, QT Enhanced Speed and Security and more!)

Reddcoin (RDD) Core Dev Team Informal Progress Report, Feb 2020 - As any blockchain or software expert will confirm, the hardest part of making successful progress in blockchain and crypto is invisible to most users. As developers, the Reddcoin Core team relies on internal experts like John Nash, contributors offering their own code improvements to our repos (which we would love to see more of!) and especially upstream commits from experts working on open source projects like Bitcoin itself. We'd like tothank each and everyone who's hard work has contributed to this progress.
As part of Reddcoin's evolution, and in order to include required security fixes, speed improvements that are long overdue, the team has up to this point incorporated the following code commits since our last v3.0.1 public release. In attempting to solve the relatively minor font display issue with MacOS Catalina, we uncovered a complicated interweaving of updates between Reddcoin Core, QT software, MacOS SDK, Bitcoin Core and related libraries and dependencies that mandated we take a holistic approach to both solve the Catalina display problem, but in doing so, prepare a more streamlined overall build and test system, allowing the team to roll out more frequent and more secure updates in the future. And also to include some badly needed fixes in the current version of Core, which we have tentatively labeled Reddcoin Core Wallet v3.1.
Note: As indicated below, v3.1 is NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD BY PUBLIC. We wil advise when it is.
The new v3.1 version should be ready for internal QA and build testing by the end of this week, with luck, and will be turned over to the public shortly thereafter once testing has proven no unexpected issues have been introduced. We know the delay has been a bit extended for our ReddHead MacOS Catalina stakers, and we hope to have them all aboard soon. We have moved with all possible speed while attempting to incorproate all the required work, testing, and ensuring security and safety for our ReddHeads.
Which leads us to: PoSV v2 activation and the supermajority on Mainnet at the time of this writing has reached 5625/9000 blocks or 62.5%. We have progressed quite well and without any reported user issues since release, but we need all of the community to participate! This activation, much like the funding mechanisms currently being debated by BCH and others, and employed by DASH, will mean not only a catalyst for Reddcoin but ensure it's future by providing funding for the dev team. As a personal plea from the team, please help us support the PoSV v2 activation by staking your RDD, no matter how large or small your amount of stake.
Every block and every RDD counts, and if you don't know how, we'll teach you! Live chat is fun as well as providing tech support you can trust from devs and community ReddHead members. Join us today in staking and online and collect some RDD "rain" from users and devs alike!
If you're holding Reddcoin and not staking, or you haven't upgraded your v2.x wallet to v3.0.1 (current release), we need you to help achieve consensus and activate PoSV v2! For details, see the pinned message here or our website or medium channel. Upgrade is simple and takes moments; if you're nervous or unsure, we're here to help live in Telegram or Discord, as well as other chat programs. See our website for links.
Look for more updates shortly as our long-anticipated Reddcoin Payment Gateway and Merchant Services API come online with point-of-sale support, as we announce the cross-crypto-project Aussie firefighter fundraiser program, as well as a comprehensive update to our development roadmap and more.
Work has restarted on ReddID and multiple initiatives are underway to begin educating and sharing information about ReddID, what it is, and how to use it, as we approach a releasable ReddID product. We enthusiastically encourage anyone interested in working to bring these efforts to life, whether writers, UX/UI experts, big data analysts, graphic artists, coders, front-end, back-end, AI, DevOps, the Reddcoin Core dev team is growing, and there's more opportunity and work than ever!
Bring your talents to a community and dev team that truly appreciates it, and share the Reddcoin Love!
And now, lots of commits. As v3.1 is not yet quite ready for public release, these commits have not been pushed publicly, but in the interests of sharing progress transparently, and including our ReddHead community in the process, see below for mind-numbing technical detail of work accomplished.

Whew! No wonder it's taken the dev team a while! :)
TL;DR: Trying to fix MacOS Catalina font display led to requiring all kinds of work to migrate and evolve the Reddcoin Core software with Apple, Bitcoin and QT components. Lots of work done, v3.1 public release soon. Also other exciting things and ReddID back under active dev effort.

#Reddcoin ($RDD) Core Wallet Release 3.0.1 - PosV v2 SuperMajority Consensus Upgrade at 45.6% - Required Upgrade

Reddcoin (RDD) Core Wallet v3.0.1 - January 09, 2020
Version 3.0.1 is the official release version of Reddcoin Core. It is available for download at Reddcoin Core's Github repository here: https://github.com/reddcoin-project/reddcoin/releases/tag/v3.0.1
This release features PoSV v2.supermajority activation and new staking ruleset (and minor misc fixes). v3.0.1 is still not yet MacOS Catalina compatible. We are still working and should have that fix issued very soon. Sincere apologies to our Mac-using ReddHeads.
It is particularly important that all users upgrade, as once PoSV v2 is enforced, version 4 blocks will be rejected from the network entirely.
Therefore v3.0.1 is a "strongly recommended" update for all users. Note: If you have already installed v3.0.0, this upgrade is not required. If you have not yet upgraded from v2.0.x or earlier, this is a REQUIRED upgrade. Please install the newest version v3.0.1 to avoid losing functionality during supermajority activation of PoSV v2.
Reddcoin Core version 3.0.1 is now available from: https://github.com/reddcoin-project/reddcoin/releases Release Notes are available here and replicated below in this announcement: https://github.com/reddcoin-project/reddcoin/blob/mastedoc/release-notes.md
This is a new major version release of Reddcoin.
Previously, the original and subsequent versions of Reddcoin were taken from a fork of the Litecoin code base.
With the release of Reddcoin V2.0.0, the code was based directly from a fork of Bitcoin. This allows for better source control and feature implementation from upstream changes into the future
With the release of Reddcoin V3.0.0, the PoSV stake reward has been improved to allow for a target 5% network growth, in process re-incentivizing individual network stakers and providing for integrated dev support.
Upgrading to this release is strongly recommended and required for continued operation. Once a supermajority of 90% is reached, old wallets will no longer accept the new v5 blocks.
Please report bugs using the issue tracker at github:
https://github.com/reddcoin-project/reddcoin/issues
How to Upgrade
If you are running an older version of Reddcoin, shut it down. Wait until it has completely shut down (which may take a few minutes for older versions). Run the installer (on Windows) or just copy over /Applications/Reddcoin-Qt (on Mac) or reddcoind/reddcoin-qt (on Linux).
Start wallet. All done!
Reddcoin v3.0.0 introduced an updated PoSV method to better distribute staking rewards and target a overall 5% network growth. Staking and relay policy enhancements
To implement PoSV v2, Reddcoin Core's block templates are now for version 5 blocks only. When PoSV v2 consensus (Supermajority 9000/10000) is reached, only v5 blocks will be accepted by the network. This equates to approximately 90% of blocks being generated over 1 week period. Status at any time may be viewed in node debug.log

Groestlcoin 6th Anniversary Release

Introduction

Dear Groestlers, it goes without saying that 2020 has been a difficult time for millions of people worldwide. The groestlcoin team would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone our best to everyone coping with the direct and indirect effects of COVID-19. Let it bring out the best in us all and show that collectively, we can conquer anything.
The centralised banks and our national governments are facing unprecedented times with interest rates worldwide dropping to record lows in places. Rest assured that this can only strengthen the fundamentals of all decentralised cryptocurrencies and the vision that was seeded with Satoshi's Bitcoin whitepaper over 10 years ago. Despite everything that has been thrown at us this year, the show must go on and the team will still progress and advance to continue the momentum that we have developed over the past 6 years.
In addition to this, we'd like to remind you all that this is Groestlcoin's 6th Birthday release! In terms of price there have been some crazy highs and lows over the years (with highs of around $2.60 and lows of $0.000077!), but in terms of value– Groestlcoin just keeps getting more valuable! In these uncertain times, one thing remains clear – Groestlcoin will keep going and keep innovating regardless. On with what has been worked on and completed over the past few months.

UPDATED - Groestlcoin Core 2.18.2

This is a major release of Groestlcoin Core with many protocol level improvements and code optimizations, featuring the technical equivalent of Bitcoin v0.18.2 but with Groestlcoin-specific patches. On a general level, most of what is new is a new 'Groestlcoin-wallet' tool which is now distributed alongside Groestlcoin Core's other executables.
NOTE: The 'Account' API has been removed from this version which was typically used in some tip bots. Please ensure you check the release notes from 2.17.2 for details on replacing this functionality.

ALL NEW - Groestlcoin Moonshine iOS/Android Wallet

Built with React Native, Moonshine utilizes Electrum-GRS's JSON-RPC methods to interact with the Groestlcoin network.
GRS Moonshine's intended use is as a hot wallet. Meaning, your keys are only as safe as the device you install this wallet on. As with any hot wallet, please ensure that you keep only a small, responsible amount of Groestlcoin on it at any given time.

ALL NEW! – HODL GRS Android Wallet

HODL GRS connects directly to the Groestlcoin network using SPV mode and doesn't rely on servers that can be hacked or disabled.
HODL GRS utilizes AES hardware encryption, app sandboxing, and the latest security features to protect users from malware, browser security holes, and even physical theft. Private keys are stored only in the secure enclave of the user's phone, inaccessible to anyone other than the user.
Simplicity and ease-of-use is the core design principle of HODL GRS. A simple recovery phrase (which we call a Backup Recovery Key) is all that is needed to restore the user's wallet if they ever lose or replace their device. HODL GRS is deterministic, which means the user's balance and transaction history can be recovered just from the backup recovery key.

ALL NEW! – GroestlcoinSeed Savior

Groestlcoin Seed Savior is a tool for recovering BIP39 seed phrases.
This tool is meant to help users with recovering a slightly incorrect Groestlcoin mnemonic phrase (AKA backup or seed). You can enter an existing BIP39 mnemonic and get derived addresses in various formats.
To find out if one of the suggested addresses is the right one, you can click on the suggested address to check the address' transaction history on a block explorer.

ALL NEW! – Vanity Search Vanity Address Generator

NOTE: NVidia GPU or any CPU only. AMD graphics cards will not work with this address generator.
VanitySearch is a command-line Segwit-capable vanity Groestlcoin address generator. Add unique flair when you tell people to send Groestlcoin. Alternatively, VanitySearch can be used to generate random addresses offline.
If you're tired of the random, cryptic addresses generated by regular groestlcoin clients, then VanitySearch is the right choice for you to create a more personalized address.
VanitySearch is a groestlcoin address prefix finder. If you want to generate safe private keys, use the -s option to enter your passphrase which will be used for generating a base key as for BIP38 standard (VanitySearch.exe -s "My PassPhrase" FXPref). You can also use VanitySearch.exe -ps "My PassPhrase" which will add a crypto secure seed to your passphrase.
VanitySearch may not compute a good grid size for your GPU, so try different values using -g option in order to get the best performances. If you want to use GPUs and CPUs together, you may have best performances by keeping one CPU core for handling GPU(s)/CPU exchanges (use -t option to set the number of CPU threads).

ALL NEW! – Electrum Personal Server

Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server aims to make using Electrum Groestlcoin wallet more secure and more private. It makes it easy to connect your Electrum-GRS wallet to your own full node.
It is an implementation of the Electrum-grs server protocol which fulfils the specific need of using the Electrum-grs wallet backed by a full node, but without the heavyweight server backend, for a single user. It allows the user to benefit from all Groestlcoin Core's resource-saving features like pruning, blocks only and disabled txindex. All Electrum-GRS's feature-richness like hardware wallet integration, multi-signature wallets, offline signing, seed recovery phrases, coin control and so on can still be used, but connected only to the user's own full node.
Full node wallets are important in Groestlcoin because they are a big part of what makes the system be trust-less. No longer do people have to trust a financial institution like a bank or PayPal, they can run software on their own computers. If Groestlcoin is digital gold, then a full node wallet is your own personal goldsmith who checks for you that received payments are genuine.
Full node wallets are also important for privacy. Using Electrum-GRS under default configuration requires it to send (hashes of) all your Groestlcoin addresses to some server. That server can then easily spy on your transactions. Full node wallets like Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server would download the entire blockchain and scan it for the user's own addresses, and therefore don't reveal to anyone else which Groestlcoin addresses they are interested in.
Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server can also broadcast transactions through Tor which improves privacy by resisting traffic analysis for broadcasted transactions which can link the IP address of the user to the transaction. If enabled this would happen transparently whenever the user simply clicks "Send" on a transaction in Electrum-grs wallet.
Note: Currently Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server can only accept one connection at a time.

Issue upgrading my bitcoin node

Hello,
I'm trying to update my current node (v0.18.1.0). I'm running my node on Mac using an external HD.
Everything is on my HD except for the bitcoin.conf file and the Bitcoin Core icon in my Applications folder.
I was able to launch my node using the icon on my Application folder (bitcoin-qt) or using the command line (bitcoind)
Since I downloaded the new version (v0.19.0.1), I have the following issue:
When I launch my node using the icon on my Application folder (bitcoin-qt) everything is fine and the new version is running (using the data in my external HD), but when launch the node using the command line (bitcoind), it still launch the old version.
Is there a separate update from bitcoind? I've done some research online but I didn't find anything helpful.
Thank You!!!
***EDIT***
I have downloaded "bitcoin-0.19.0.1-osx64.tar.gz" which include the executable for bitcoind, bitcoin-cli, etc and replace the old ones by the new ones and everything looks fine!

What are your censorship stories that bitcoin would fix

I saw another post that I thought was asking for censorship stories, but it was just a different type of complaint, so I thought to make this post.
So... What are some stories you'd be willing to share that woke you up to how much centralized censorship there is today, and why bitcoin might help.
I'll start:
2015, I wanted to check out bitcoin so I got some from a faucet and downloaded bitcoin-core and the blockchain. Few days later I got a letter from Comcast (my ISP) saying that they recognized suspicious traffic on my MAC and suggested I call support to have a tech come out and run a virus scan. I ignored it, but it prompted me to log into my ISP account, which I never do. Sure enough I had a stack of emails from Comcast to my ISP email address saying the same thing. Turns out they were routinely doing port scans on my network looking for open ports. When I opened my NAT firewall for bitcoin-qt they saw this as "suspicious traffic".
Not really "censorship" but definitely creepy.
2016, getting kinda freaked out by the previous, I decide to run my client over TOR. This was on a linux box so I no longer had the blockchain. So I set it up and start pulling down blocks and I'm now satisfied that my node is reachable without having to punch a hole through my NAT or get nasty letters from Comcast. Then all of the sudden my connection drops. Assuming it's just crappy internet I don't think about it for the rest of the week. Weekend comes and I have some free time so I fire up my linux box and my tor node then boom.... my connection drops. Turns out every time I fired up my tor node they would "re-provision" my cable modem. Filed a shit-ton of issues, letters and social media posts.
End result was that the directed me to their terms-of-service which explicitly prohibit the use of "peer-to-peer" software or running any internet "servers" on their service.
2018, My previous encounters got me interested in Tor, I2P, and other types of networks. I wrote a series of posts about it. Since all my spare money goes into DCA I decided to go with a free dynamic-dns service for a static hostname. Eventually, since tons of scammers use the same free dynamic-dns service, both reddit and facebook have a site-ban on any URL linking to it. Luckily my gh-pages link does a 301 redirect so I can link to it indirectly here: https://brianddk.github.io/darkweb . For fun try pasting the URL it redirects to in a reply post and you will find the site automod kick in and remove it. Won't affect your user account though.

Switching Wallet to Electrum, issue incurred... please help

I'm missing some BTC after a transfer, here is what happened:
I tried to transfer my Bitcoin-QT wallet to Electrum, since I hadn't opened it in almost three years, and the synchronization has barely moved in over a week.
In the Debug->Console I put in the command listreceivedbyaddresses and found the only one that had bitcoin in it, (this was from a bitcoin miner) and then used the command dumpprivkey
and received a new address.
I also used the command listaddressgroupings which showed the amount of bitcoin in the miner address to have 4.425 btc.
Next I opened my Electrum to Wallet->Public Keys->Sweep and entered the private key. After a minute I got the following:
Transaction ID: (long id address here) Status: Signed Amount Received: 3002.XXXXXX mBTC Size: XXXXX bytes Fee: unknown Inputs (100) [here are listed 100 addresses]
Outputs (1) [here is listed 1 address highlighted in green and to the right of this the amount 3002.XXXXX]
At the bottom of the box are 6 boxes, Copy, 2D code, Save, Sign, Broadcast, and Close.
I did not click any of these yet.
So my question is - why is there only 3.003 BTC when I initially had 4.425??
Any help would be very much appreciated, I'm scared to click anything now for fear of doing something irreversible.
Thank you, VTR

Games4coins.com .. a new service to buy Steam keys with BTX

Games4coins.com .. a new service to buy Steam keys with BTX
Artwork by Desing Team - Bitcore BTX ® 2018
Steam is a digital distribution platform developed by Valve Corporation offering digital rights management1 (DRM), multiplayer gaming and social networking services. Steam provides the user with installation and automatic updating of games on multiple computers, and community features such as friend lists and groups, cloud saving, and in-game voice and chat functionality.
If you purchase a game that uses Steam from another website as a digital download, you'll be given a product key that you use to activate the game on Steam. A Steam key is a unique code that you will use to access the full game2.
Bitcore BTX originally a hybrid fork of Bitcoin, features a proof-of work consensus mechanism and implements all of the BIPs (Bitcoin Improvement Proposals) of the Bitcoin protocol3.
Bitcore: The most clever Bitcoin fork” -- Jimmy Song, Bitcoin Core Developer
More exchanges are listing Bitcore (BTX) and businesses are adopting it. One of the latest cases of adoption of BTX is in purchasing Steam Games Key from Games4Coins.
Games4Coins is a platform that you can purchase Steam product keys. Buying a game on Games4Coins is really simple. Once you have selected a game, you can quickly and securely pay. Why we say quickly and securely? Because a powerful cryptocurrency, Bitcore (BTX) is accepted as a payment coin at this platform (Figure 1). Moreover, as a crypto, they accept only Bitcore.
Figure 1. Bitcore accepted in Games4Coins
After the transaction is complete, you gain full access to your purchased game key which is 15 letter+number code that would look something like this: 8GMR2-Q20YJ-9PDKL. Once you get that, you go into your steam app on your computer and go to Games > Activate a product on steam. Then it will have a space for you to put your code.
Bitcore is one Cryptocurrency with a big Future”. Games4Coins Team
There are totally forty seven steam games and you can pay via Bitcore for all games. Moreover the prices are very cheap, between 0.44303596 BTX and 5.41588852 BTX (Figure 2).
Figure 2. Some samples for the steam games and their price
Consequently, Bitcore is one of the best cryptos in the market. It is also one of the fastest cryptos in the market when compared to Bitcoin, Litecoin and many other top 10 cryptos. Given that transaction speeds are a factor in the applicability of crypto in real-world business usage, it then follows that Bitcore’s long-term prospects are quite good, as blockchain technology continues to gain a foothold in business. This kind of integrations could open the doors for other major businesses to adopt BTX as a payment method, further adding to the intrinsic value of this crypto. The future of Bitcore (BTX) looks great.

Bitcoin 2 Core v.2.2 Wallets Released!

Now available for download at https://www.bitc2.org/#wallets and https://github.com/BITC2/bitcoin2/releases
Version 2.2 Change log:
Updating your Bitcoin 2 Core wallet to this version is mandatory. That includes upgrading all your Masternodes. After enough nodes have upgraded to this version, a new staking protocol will be activated and the old nodes that fail to upgrade their wallet before that will end up forking to the wrong chain. Estimated time of this protocol upgrade is between August 21 - August 24 2019. As soon as possible.
To update, you just need to download the archive, stop your wallet and let it fully shutdown, and then copy the executable files in the bitcoin2-bin folder to replace the ones you had installed already.
After upgrading your Masternode and your desktop wallet, you should go in the Masternodes tab on your controller wallet and click to Start the upgraded Masternodes.
Binaries for a couple of platforms that are less used are still to be compiled.

Bitcore BTX - What makes us different from the other cryptocurrencies? by DgCarlosLeon

Bitcore BTX - What makes us different from the other cryptocurrencies? by DgCarlosLeon
Beyond all of Bitcore's avant-garde technical aspects, it is also one of the forerunners of 2017, being Bitcoin's first hybrid Fork.
Artwork by Design Team - Bitcore BTX ® 2018
We have focused on being the currency of choice for the fastest and most efficient transactions and payments (but here again we fall back on the technical side).
From my personal point of view, at Bitcore we are different because we think about people, we think about nature and everything that technology can provide to everyone in general.
We are aware that the world today is changing in all environments and we adapt to this pace.
Let's see a little, the other currencies (as perspective) Bitcoin certainly the first in the ranking and very busy avoiding the blows of other currencies like Bcash.
Bcash, focused on making them believe that they Bitcoin still entered the world almost eight years after Bitcoin, with a crypto tycoon who can move the markets as he pleases.
Bitcoin Gold another fork with a few more dark started, especially because of the scam with the purse that overtook more than one BTC holder (I include myself, for having relied on the publication of themselves).
Bitcoin Private, Bitcoin Diamond, Bitcoin Red, Bitcoin Scrypt, BitcoinDark, BitcoinZ, Bitcoin Interest, Bitcoin 21, Bitcoin Atom, Bitcoin Fast, Bitcoin God, Bitcoin Plus, Bitcoin X, Bitcoin Green, Bitcoin Planet, Lightining Bitcoin, Super Bitcoin, United Bitcoin... and they're all Bitcoin?
I don't deny that everyone may or may not have their own characteristics, but let's start with the name "Bitcoin" there we can already appreciate that they are currencies with other interests beyond people.
At Bitcore BTX we have a different goal and that is to make people truly enjoy the advantages of having a decentralized crypt for the development of their lives in a comprehensive and worry-free way.
We want to make a difference and the best way is by dedicating our effort and work to improving people's quality of life.
Disclaimer: My opinion is not based on technical characteristics, but on the quality of the people who make up the team of the cryptocurrecies and on the visible intentions of each one.

Beginners guide to Syscoin (SYS) and why you should be investing in this cryptocurrency in 2018

What is Syscoin?

Some have described Syscoin (SYS) as the Shopify, Amazon and Ebay of the blockchain world. Syscoin is a revolutionary cryptocurrency that offers near zero cost financial transactions, incredible speed and provides businesses the infrastructure to trade goods, assets, digital certificates and data securely. Syscoin isn’t just about money and trading, it has the ability to attract various business types thanks to its native set of features geared towards business on the blockchain. From eBay traders and High Street shops to Medical applications, Insurance and Gaming, Syscoin’s decentralized network benefits everyone!
Syscoin is developed by Blockchain Foundry (BF). BF provides blockchain technology based services, projects and products for a wide variety of use cases with the stated aim of disrupting markets by leveraging the potential of blockchain technology. Syscoin is mainly known to be the first cryptocurrency to offer a fully decentralized marketplace based on blockchain. What is lesser known is that this is only a part of what Syscoin offers.
With the introduction of Masternodes in February or March 2018 SYS will be transformed from just a ’marketplace coin’ to a completely ‘utilitarian coin’. The Masternode infrastructure allows the addition of decentralized databases and file storage, increased transaction speed to surpass POS/Visa/Mastercard capabilities, true Turing complete smart contract capabilities for unlimited business logic, sidechains, application layers and an identity layer. This will all be accessible through an API, rather than a new language, enabling nearly any developer to create any blockchain application they can conceive. This will usher in the next generation of blockchain applications - made for new or existing businesses - by conveniently offering everything available from the blockchain space today.

SYS Origin

The blockchain as conceptualized by Satoshi Nakamoto back in 2008 envisioned a peer-to-peer electronic cash network that would prevent double-spending. A year later, the blockchain became an integral part of bitcoin, serving as the latter's public ledger of transactions. Although Nakamoto's reference client mentioned a decentralized marketplace service, the subsequent implementation did not incorporate this due to a lack of resources.
Syscoin was initially described in a 2014 draft whitepaper that envisioned Decentralized Marketplace Creation, Decentralized Smart Contracts and Documents, Decentralized Certificate Issuance and Transfer, and Decentralized Data Storage and Retrieval, as among the services that it would offer upon its release.
Syscoin aimed to bring Nakamoto's vision of a decentralized marketplace back into the blockchain, among the other commercial-grade services it aims to deliver to clients. Other services that Syscoin plans to provide include secure data storage and transfer, and unique user aliases that link their owners to the services controlled by the alias.
The early Syscoin wallet was superseded by the release of Blockmarket Desktop 1.0 on September 12, 2017, marking the culmination of Syscoin's vision of a fully decentralized marketplace with a desktop GUI based on the blockchain.
The planned release of Blockmarket Web, a fully web-based version, and Blockmarket Professional in 2018 takes that vision one step further, as more advanced seller stores become a reality.

The Team

The Team that NEVER quits! Before the launch of Syscoin (Q3 2014), there was a presale ICO by Moolah (as a partner), which turned out to be detrimental for Syscoin. The project raised around 1,000BTC for development but the Syscoin Team only managed to access 250BTC which were used for price support. Moolah (Ryan Kennedy) absconded with the bulk of the ICO funds and the Syscoin team were left with ~30million Syscoin at a price around 400 satoshi. Even after this tragic event, the devs didn’t quit and continued to work on the project without stopping. The case against Moolah is still on-going. See the article from CoinDesk here: http://www.coindesk.com/uk-court-syscoin-injunction-moolah-750-btc/.
What is this detail telling us about the dev team? While some crypto projects are just scams and bring little to no innovation, they’ve proven that they are in it for the long term - ably demonstrated by the fact that they continued to work despite their funds being stolen. And now that hard work is beginning to pay off with the entire team going full-time for the first time in January 2018 and new developers being hired following VC funding for BF.

What is Blockmarket Desktop?

Building on the World's First Decentralized Marketplace, Blockmarket is the newest generation of Syscoin's Desktop wallet with a complete, state-of-the-art marketplace built-in where you can securely and reliably buy and sell any items you wish. Entire stores can be created directly through the marketplace where you can sell your own products or re-sell others’ products for commission. Use of blockchain technology eliminates middlemen, credit card fees, maintenance fees, downtime and political interference. Persons are literally able to buy or sell anything to anyone, anytime, anywhere on Earth! Blockmarket Desktop was launched on September 12, 2017.

Key Blockmarket Features

• Price Pegging to currencies such as USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, CNY and BTC
• Bitcoin and Zcash as payment options
• Arbitrated Escrow
• Encrypted Messaging
• KYC/AML Compliance
• Images
• Unlimited Inventory Items

Name Aliases

Wallet addresses for cryptocurrencies generally consist of a unique string of between 27-34 alphanumeric characters. Such an address isn’t easy to memorize. Although the addresses can be added to an address book within the wallet, Syscoin has taken the user's convenience one step further, allowing you to create a unique Alias for your wallet address, such as a name, title, or characters specific to a username. These can be used to send SYS from home, to a mobile wallet, to work, to friends, to common suppliers or to repeat customers easily, without requiring any memorizing, writing it down, copy & pasting or emailing yourself the address.

Digital Certificates

Using the cryptography of the blockchain persons can issue, authorize, and exchange digital certificates of any kind. With Syscoin anyone can issue provably-unique certificates with text or ASCII content to one or multiple parties on the Syscoin blockchain. These certificates can be authenticated by anyone via Syscoin’s cryptographic proof of work. This allows for the creation and free exchange of any kind of digital asset such as ownership certificates, warranties, receipts, tickets, certifications, diplomas, software licenses and more.

Integrated Exchanges

Integrated Crypto exchanges - Flypme and Changelly will facilitate exchanging 30+ cryptos for SYS, directly within the Blockmarket wallet.

Security Audit Verified

Blockmarket was successfully and independently security audited by Digital Boundary Group and was deemed low risk. Audit Results: [https://medium.com/@BlockchainFoundry/blockmarket-security-audit-results-and-next-steps-f69f94f149bf]

Blockmarket Web – (The Key to Mass Adoption)

BM web will bring SYS’s existing decentralized marketplace and all its features into a web-based version, enabling ease of use with a simple email and password login (grandma friendly) without any need for downloading a wallet or waiting for sync. Blockmarket web will be launched in February 2018.

Key Syscoin Developments

Masternodes

Ability for world-class transactions-per-second performance to scale-out with added nodes (theoretically 100k TPS per 1000 Masternodes, 300k TPS/3k masternodes, etc). In later releases, masternodes will also process smart contracts and facilitate sharded+encrypted offchain file-storage (with onchain anchors), among other touted functionality. They should also result in steadying the price movements - less volatility as holding will be incentivized

Smart Contracts

Scalable Ethereum Virtual Machine: Allows Turing complete smart contracts to be executed following the ethereum protocol at a much faster speed and at a fraction of the ethereum gas price.

Assets & Token Issuance

With its token issuance service, Syscoin allows anyone to create a custom asset token which can then be sent directly to anyone else on the network. This facilitates a variety of use cases including ICO token issuance, supply chain management, reward points, and loyalty programs.

Anonymous Transactions

Anonymous transactions: via mixing/shuffling at user-specified denomination. Afterwards, additional tech will be added in the near future which will further compound the degree of anonymity provided -Add ValueShuffle running on top of the masternode layer and you have the world's most advanced privacy tech in any coin. This brings true money fungibility to Syscoin and the missing link for true economic sovereignty. https://twitter.com/realSidhuJag/status/948588279540035584

Instant Send

Transactions can be sent and received instantly. This represents a similar sending capability as Dash, but is a step beyond- A type of backend node locking will allow an instantly received sum to be sent immediately, without delay, and without network risk of double-spend.
